Teaching and Learning Style

The "VARK Questionnaire," located on the VARK website, is a resource

used for learners to best understand their learning style and to achieve their

desired educational outcome. In this analysis, I have tried to identify my

preferred learning style, according to the VARK questionnaire,and compare

that to my current preferred learning style.Ialso explain how individual

learning styles affect the degree to which an educator can understand or

perform educational activities, as well as the importanceof identifying

one’sindividual learning styles and preferences when working with learners

and how different learning styles can be used in health promotion.

According to the VARK questionnaire, my learning style is the

multimodal strategy. Most of the people who possess this strategyhave two

strong preferences of either aural(A) and visual (V)or read/write(R) and

kinesthetic(K). Some people may have three strong attributes like ARK or

VAR. This mode of learning style gives people different means of interactions

with others. Some might have an equal strength in all four modes which

enable them to switch these modes easily. In the VARK assessment my

profile is a trimodal combination of ARK.

People with an aural(A)strategy, tend to explain matters by talking and

listening. They grasp the information by listening to a podcast orrecording,

andthey might also like to engage in debates and arguments due to their

interest in deep discussions. When it comes to the read/write (R) strategy,

people use printed words as the most important way of communication

and/or learning. Order and structure in things they need to present is also

vital. Reading handouts, making lists, writing notes are some of their traits.

In the kinesthetic(K) strategy, people like to implement the ideas or

instructions immediately. They are good team players who can put ideas into

practice, and they use all five senses (sight, taste, touch, smell and hearing)

to grasp information. These types of learners like to learn and teach by

demonstration and tend to use simulations or role plays to help with this.

My preferred learning strategy is multimodal with focus on ARK. In ARK

trimodal, when I use Aural strategy, the learning happens throughlistening,

discussing, talking, questioning, recalling. In this style of learning, I depend

on my memory to store data rather than through a detailed note. I use

examples and stories to understand things. In the group discussions, I am

very eager to find an opportunity to express my point of view. In Reading

and writing strategy, I learn information mainly by reading and taking

detailed notes. I can be very creative in writing and translating graphic
