1. sixty percent of patient admitted to the inpatient rehabilitation unit must
have 1 of 13 conditions: stroke
spinal cord injury
brain injury
specific neurologic conditions
2. acute care setting for rehab: pts in ICU
3. long term acute care for rehab: patients have serious medical conditions that require care on ongoing
basis but no longer require intensive care or diagnostic procedures
4. length of stay in long term acute care: 25+ days
5. inpatient rehabilitation patients undergo PT, OT and SLP how often: 3 hours 5-7
days per week
6. subacute rehabilitation: less vigorous therapy
transition from acute rehab facility or for those who cannot tolerate acute rehab intensity
