EUP1501
ASSIGNMENT 5 SEMESTER 2 2025

UNIQUE NO.
DUE DATE: 24 OCTOBER 2025

, Ethical Information and Communication Technologies for Development Solutions

SECTION A: ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN ACHIEVING THE SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Background and Introduction

Two SDGs will be discussed with background information for each:

SDG 2: Zero Hunger
Hunger and malnutrition are major global challenges that affect individuals,
communities, and economies. This goal seeks to address the root causes of food
insecurity, including poverty, conflict, climate change, and limited access to resources.

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being
Health is a fundamental human right, and progress in this area is essential for overall
development. This goal recognizes the interconnectedness between health and other
aspects of sustainable development such as poverty, education, and environmental
sustainability.

Why I chose these SDGs
I chose SDG 2 and SDG 3 because they address fundamental human needs and are
directly linked to overall societal well-being. These goals are especially relevant in
places such as Ivory Park, Midrand, where access to nutritious food and quality
healthcare may be limited.

For SDG 2, initiatives would focus on improving access to affordable and nutritious food
and promoting sustainable farming practices. For SDG 3, the focus would be on
strengthening local healthcare systems and increasing access to quality medical
services.
