course skills and passed the required scenarios and assessments.. "Unsuccessful" is entered for
a participant who has not met course objectives and/or does not successfully attend all class
sessions, participate in all course activities, complete all the required skills and/or complete the
scenarios and assessments and prefers not to be retested or does not pass a retest. "Not
Evaluated" should be entered as the final grade for a participant who is not attending the
course with intent to receive a completion certificate. The participant, with approval from the
instructor, is allowed to choose his or her own level of participation in the course. This should
not be substituted for an Unsuccessful for a participant who attempts certification but is unable
to pass the completion requirements. A participant who chooses to audit must make his or her
intent known to the instructor at the beginning of the class.
What are some factors that affect class safety? - ANS Supervision, instructor preparation, co-
instructors and instructor aides, participants, equipment, teaching environment, facility policies
and procedures. NOTE: As an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, you must make your
teaching environment as safe as possible.
