Client Interview

I reviewed your history and current intervention plan. Tell me how
you think you have you been doing recently.
Hard to do, hard ah hard for noise, crowds, talking with people
who understand, don't understand. I found out I have to slow
down speaking. If I slow down, I talk more clearly. So people will
talk fast. You know it's a fast-paced of the world. I'm in no hurry. I
, try to get people please slow down. Talking. I found I don't care
anymore. I do care but. It's my opinion now, and I go to the bank,
hey I had a stroke, please slow down. Words are hard for me.
Money is hard for me. Just let me say what I want to say. And
please slow down. People are kind. Most people are if you just, I
tell them had a stroke, please help me to help you. You know. So
I'm over all that stu . I did my stu now. That's me now. I'm proud
of myself. And you know, this is me, so.

What types of strategies do you use to improve communication?
I can, I could call people, but maybe they don't same, maybe they
don't. Most time I text now because I have to see it. It just does not
work without me.That helped me so much, texting.

In order to plan for our therapy, please tell me a little about your
family.
I have a, my beautiful wife, two daughters. They're both married. I
have in-laws. Six grandchildren. My home is just working outside,
hanging with my dog Lucy. Karen is still working but hopefully this,
this year she'll be retiring. That's exciting for us. My family is my
girls, they're not allowed to move. Can't leave the state. My
daughter lives two blocks away. My other daughter is about a half-
mile away. So, they're close, I see them often, every day. Talk to
them, see the kids. They have a blessing with the kids. Grandkids,
each is so di erent, so fun. Been great.

What are your therapy goals?
My goals have changed. Totally di erent than that I planned for.
God is, God's pretty funny. He's a, he had di erent plans than we
had. The plan was retire. Karen retiring. Couple of years later, I'd
retire, go life and move. So had lost my job from my stroke. So
Karen's still working. So my future and the plans now. If hope rst
of the year, Karen retiring. We live ever after. But now I want to, I'm
trying to, my goal now is to try help people who had gone through,
