AMT2 Task4: Service Line Development
AMT2 Task Four Service Line Development Demand__________________________________________ Orthopedic demand was assessed when determining the three new service lines. The needs assessment determined that orthopedic services are expected to grow at a rate of 46 percent in the next five years. Inpatient services are expected to increase by 30 percent. Additionally, outpatient joint and spine procedures are expected to increase by 350 percent. Due to the increase in demand, Trinity Hospital would benefit greatly in developing orthopedics as the new service line. At this time, Trinity Hospital is not meeting demand for the upcoming need. The five year plan for orthopedics should include many improvements. First, additional space is needed because the department is already at capacity. Additional space will require additional equipment to satisfy the patient volumes. Additional physicians will also be needed in order to meet patient demand. A scheduling system will need to be implemented in order to facilitate a successful workflow. Finally, a prevention education program will need to be implemented.
