Mrs Lyons – Act 2
o Fully descends into paranoia and goes mad
o Turns to violence towards Mrs Johnstone and calls her a stalker, offends Mrs
Johnstone and then tries to stab her
o Gets extremely over protective over Edward, she tries to have a close relationship
with him, but it only ends in him being drawn away from her
o Is the person to inform Mickey of Edward and Linda’s affair, this pushes Mickey over
the edge
o Paranoid, crazy
o Overprotective
o Frightening
o Jealous

o Highly aware
o Stalker, follows her son around to witness what he does and if he’s with Mrs
Johnstone or Mickey
o Starts to follow Edward around so see what he is doing, freaks out when she see’s
Edward with Mickey as they tried to move away from them
o Gives Edward very little freedom, which leads to her son feeling suffocated and ends
in him being drawn away from her, which is the opposite effect that she wished to
have on him
o Unhappy and isolated
o Mental health declines quite rapidly over the course of act 2
o Fearful of her son being taken away by his biological family, the Johnstone’s
o Becomes afraid that Edward is aware of her and Mrs Johnstone’s secret agreement,
so goes to inform Mrs Johnstone of her worries, which ends up in her attack
o Mrs Lyons paranoia contributes to the tragic end due to her words upon Mickey
about the Edward and Linda romance causes Mickey to go over the edge with his
Jealously upon Edward, and grab the gun from under the floorboards
