1. Summary of the Facts

 Employment and Pregnancy Notification
Ms Tiisetso Moleme was employed as an R&D chemist by Induradec Coatings from
October 2021. In March 2023, after learning she was pregnant, she notified her
employer and requested reassignment from the laboratory to avoid chemical
exposure.


 Initial Reassignment without Duties
Acting on her request, her manager, Mr Powell, moved her to an adjacent office but
failed to assign any work, despite promising “light duties” and a computer.


 Medical and Safety Consultations
The employer sought written opinions from Moleme’s gynaecologist and general
practitioner on whether a respirator would suffice. Both doctors declined, advising
consultation with a health and safety expert. No formal expert assessment was
ever obtained.
