LCAN - Answer-(Location, Conditions, Actions, and Needs)
Hostage/Barricade - Answer-Contain, Control, Communicate, Call SWAT and Negotiators, Create an
Immediate Action Plan
540-Degree - Answer-Continually look for threats by scanning 360 degrees around them at high and low
angles. This is referred to as 540-degree security.
LE - Answer-Law Enforcement
Threshold Evaluation - Answer-LE responders inside an active shooter situation, it is advantageous to
visually clear areas before entering them. By systematically scanning an area prior to entering it, LE
responders can gain important information to help coordinate their next movement.
Incident Command - Answer-prepares law enforcement officers and their supervisors to effectively
manage an active shooter scene; however, it may take several minutes for an ICS- trained responder to
arrive on-scene.
Sul Position - Answer-Sul is a very compact, muzzle-down position used whenever responders see other
responders in front of them. To come to this position from the Low-Ready
Driving Force - Answer-known as actionable information, is information that indicates an active killing is
taking place and leads responders to the attacker's location.
