1.1 Organisatie
Een organisatie beschikt over:
- Doelstellingen
- Mensen
- Middelen
 Organisatie: doelgerichte samenwerkingsverbanden
o Mensen werken samen om doelstellingen te bereiken en gebruiken daarbij middelen.
o Onder organisatie vallen bedrijven en overige samenwerkingsverbanden.
 Bedrijven: Producten/diensten
 Onderneming: winst maken
 Non-profitorganisaties: niet het doel om winst te maken, mag wel.
 Rechtsvormen in organisaties:
- Zonder rechtspersoon (eenmanszaak/vof)
- Met rechtspersoonlijkheid (bv/nv/vereniging/corporatie/stichting)
o Nv: aandelen op de beurs en hierdoor internationale samenwerkingsverbanden.
 Economisch verkeer speelt een belangrijke rol binnen het algemene maatschappelijke verkeer.

1.2 Globale ontwikkelingen organisatietheorie
De eerste aanzet tot organisaties zoals wij die nu kennen, werd gegeven in de Eerste Industriële Revolutie (1760-1830).

 Eind 19e eeuw – 1935
o Taylor  Scientific management (klassieke school/kwantitatieve benadering).
o Henry Ford  lopende band (werknemers werden verlengde van de lopende band).
- Laisser faire  minimale overheidsbemoeienis
o Fayol  general management theory (plannen/organiseren/opdrachten
geven/afstemmen/coördineren/controleren).
o Weber  rationele organisatie (samenwerkingsverband waarin de functievervulling onafhankelijk zou moeten
zijn van de personen die de functies vervullen).
- Eenheid-van-bevel-principe: iedere werknemer heeft één baas
