What are Tribunals?

 Tribunals operate alongside the court system and are an important
part of our modern legal system
 They were established in order to give people a way of enforcing
rights
 They deal with –
 Redundancy payments
 Sex and race discrimination
 Disability rights
 Mobility allowance
 Unfair dismissal

Tribunals, Courts and Enforcements acts 2007 reformed the whole tribunal
system from a confusing and complicated system, which included more
than 70 different types of tribunals, to a unified and structured tribunal
system.


 Tribunals are usually divided into two types –




Administrative tribunals –

First-tier Tribunals (hear cases at Upper Tribunals (hear appeals)
first instance) operates in 6 Divided into 4 chambers

The general health regulatory The administrative appeals

The health, education and social The immigration and asylum
