if a pt has CHRONIC causes of SIADH how would you treat them? - Demeclocycline- a derivative
of tetracycline
If a pt is having SEVERE symptoms w SIADH how would you treat them? - IV hypertonic saline
and Furosemide (excrete excess free water)
you know the pt is severe bc they are in a coma, seizing, have AMS
If a pt is more symptomatic w SIADH how would you treat them? - More symptomatic pt-
vasopressor receptor antagonist TOLVAPTAM to block the effect of ADH
how to remember- gotta pay a TOLL to use the receptor
Need to figure out cause of DI what test will we do? - give pt ADH (Desmopressin)
if it is central you will have a positive response
if it is nephrogenic you will not have a response
Normovolemic SIADH meaning - pt has normal presentation= NO edema, NO swelling in legs
pt is NOT volume overloaded
SIADH pt presents with... - AMS, seizing, coma, cerebral edema
