Scientific Inquiry
methods used to understand the fundamental concepts and processes of all sciences
How can teachers unify scientific concepts, using what topics?
provide them with themes to help them understand the natural world, topics include: evolution, cycles,
and systems
Define evolution
how living species change over time and how they have come to be the way they are today
Define systems
They are sets of connected parts that work together to form a whole (human body or a lake)
What does the science curriculum revolve around?
the interrelationship of living things and how they work together. Example: a class pet being taken care
of by students
What are cycles? Example: life cycle of a butterfly
They are the sequences of changing states of systems
Define equilibrium
balance, example: if the equilibrium of one's ear is off the child will lose their balance
What is the first step of the scientific method?
Question/Topic
What is the second step of the scientific method?
Research/Investigation
What is the third step of the scientific method?
Form a hypothesis, predict the outcome of the experiment
What is the fourth step of the scientific method?
Experiment to test the hypothesis
What is the fifth step of the scientific method?
Collect data and record the results
