 Advise an employee fully in relation to an unfair dismissal scenario
 Give practical advice
 Advise on the remedies available for unfair dismissal


Session Activities:
 Give full advice to an employee about liability for unfair dismissal
 Give advice on the compensatory award factors and calculate basic award


Materials Attached:
 Pre-session task: memorandum requesting advice on potential unfair dismissal claim
 In session task: memorandum asking for basic award calculation
 In session task: memorandum requesting advice on compensatory award


Preparation for Session:
 Review LG 3 and 4
 Re-read articles on Practical Law entitled ‘Unfair dismissal: overview’ and ‘Unfair
dismissal: compensation and remedies’
 Read ss. 92-95, 97, 98 and 108 ERA 1996
 Provide answers to the pre-session task for discussion
 Locate the ACAS Guide on Social Media in the Workplace and bring it to the session
