Introduction

Science and technology are two interconnected fields that have played a vital role in the
development of human civilization. Although they are different in their core purposes and
approaches, their relationship is deeply intertwined. I support the view that science and
technology are inseparable, as the progress of one usually influences and accelerates the
progress of the other. To fully support this viewpoint, it is important to first explore what
science and technology each involve.

Science can be defined as a systematic process of discovering knowledge through
observation, experimentation, and logical reasoning (Lederman & Abell, 2014). It seeks to
understand natural phenomena, explain how the world works, and uncover the laws that
govern it. Scientists ask questions, develop hypotheses, conduct experiments, and analyze
results to gain a better understanding of the universe.

On the other hand, technology refers to the application of scientific knowledge for practical
purposes. It involves creating tools, machines, systems, or processes that help solve
problems and make life easier. While science focuses on understanding, technology is
geared toward applying that understanding to achieve useful outcomes. For example,
scientific discoveries in physics have led to technological inventions such as computers,
satellites, and medical imaging machines (OECD, 2017).

The close relationship between science and technology becomes clear when we see how
scientific breakthroughs often lead to new technologies, and how technological advancements
can open new possibilities for scientific exploration. Therefore, it is accurate to say that
science and technology are inseparable, as they continuously influence and support each
other in advancing society and human knowledge (Matthews, 2015).
