Requirements for Oklahoma Funeral Board Members - ANSWER: - 7 Persons
- 5 Actively engaged in the practice of embalming and funeral directing in this state for not less than 7 years
immediately prior to their appointment
- 2 chosen from the general public; 1 of which is licensed in the health care field if possible with NO interest in
anything funeral related
Who appoints members of the Board? - ANSWER: Governor
How long are the terms of the board members - ANSWER: -5 years
-no more than 2 consecutive terms
Licensing requirement for FDIC? - ANSWER: Must be both FD and Embalmer
Minimum requirements for FD/Embalmer - ANSWER: - 20 years old
- legal resident of the state
-good moral character
-60 hours at accredited mortuary college program
-served 1 year registered apprenticeship
-passed both National Board exams
-paid fees
Which persons, professions and businesses must be licensed pursuant to the Funeral Service Licensing Act? -
ANSWER: - practice or profession of funeral directing or embalming
- maintaining the business of a funeral establishment or commercial embalming establishment
- the sale of any funeral service merchandise
- providing funeral services
- ANY funeral establishment or commercial embalming establishment
, When are renewal fees due? - ANSWER: December 31
What happens if renewal fees are unpaid? - ANSWER: - amount of fee doubles, and if the fee is not paid on or
before April 30th of the subsequent year, the license shall be in default and terminate automatically
When do licenses expire? - ANSWER: December 31 of each year
An FD or Embalmer who fails to apply for a renewal license for a period of three years..? - ANSWER: shall be
reinstated by taking a written and oral exam and by paying a fee of $25 and the current years' dues
