B. Intrapersonal Improvement
Apply either the research of Peter Salovey and John D. Mayer or Daniel
Goleman to explain TWO ways that you can improve your intrapersonal
areas of opportunity (self-awareness and/or self-management) from your
GEIT results. (Unit 2: Module 1).
Self-awareness is a 4 out of 10.
Self-management is 8 out of 10.
1. Using the Salovey and Mayer research Global Leadership
Foundation, 2017. I can improve my Self-awareness by first
identifying what a self-aware individual looks like. As found in
my research as a self-aware individual I will have the ability to
know my own feelings and understand why I am feeling them.
This help will help me build self-confidence and building my
emotional intelligence. I would start by taking a deep breath
before a situation and checking in with myself, asking do I
understand how and why I feel the way I do? If someone was to
ask me to explain how I’m feeling could I answer it in a clear
and understandable way? Being able to answer these questions
comfortably and confidently will show how self-aware I am. Per
the lesson text from Emotional and Cultural Intelligence, 2020. if
one can perceive what they are thinking and feeling, they can
begin to calm their own mind and become less reliant on
external conditions to feel calm and in control. Achieving this
will help develop self-awareness.
