who they go with, and what they do there.
Objective: To develop purposeful oral communication skills including description, expressing personal
experiences, and building confidence in speaking to peers.
1.2 Foundation Phase Progression (2)
This activity builds on Grade 3 CAPS outcomes:
• Listens to and gives recounts of personal experiences
• Uses appropriate language to express ideas clearly and logically
By Grade 4, learners deepen this by speaking in structured, coherent ways and developing
awareness of audience and purpose.
