medications are dispensed safely and offer clinical advice to patients
concerning how to take them, what reactions may occur and answering
patients questions.

What pharmacists do? - anspharmacists are getting more proactive about
being involved in their patients' health, in terms of comprehensive
medication reviews (not just 'are you taking this? yeah, look good, next' but
making sure there's an indication for each medication, that the dose is
correct, the therapies make sense, patients are adherent, any drug
interactions, any drug related problems), having in-depth conversations with

prescriptions when they find drug-related problems such as dosing
oversights by prescribers

What skills are required for a pharmacist? - ansAttention to detail

Which subject in pharmacy interested you? - ansI enjoy human biology and
picked pharmacy as it allows me to treat illnesses for the whole body not
just specifically for certain areas, without surgery or invasive procedures.

Why do you want to become a pharmacist? - ansAlways enjoyed human
biology and when considering career options I wanted to chose a degree that
would lead to a job in the healthcare field. During my week of hospital work

I think it's a very rewarding career, pharmacist play an important role in
ensuring the safety of patients by making sure treatments are dispensed and
used correctly without causing and unintentional harm. I look forward to
being able to help people with the knowledge I gain from my degree, helping
them better understand their medications

I like to think of pharmacy as a specialty in itself, just like how we have
specialities in medicine (family, GI, psych, etc), pharmacy is really a
subspecialty of medicine in that pharmacists specialize in drugs. If you think
you'd be happy with a career that looks exclusively at medications (a broad
field) and you enjoy patient interactions, then pharmacy is a good option

Why pharmacy instead of medicine? - ansNo invasive procedures in
pharmacy but still a lot of variation in ur job as a pharmacist. Studying
drugs is interesting and having to constantly update myself on new drugs.
Wide range of jobs available after graduation such as community pharmacy,
institutional pharmacy, academia, research, pharmaceutical companies.

Your ideas and experiences related to the field of pharmacy and healthcare
more widely. - ansDuring my work experience in year 11 I shadowed a
pharmacist in the endicrinology department. She was summarising patients
drug lists before discharge. My observation of her work I became aware of
the many responsibilities of a pharmacist. The importance of attention to
detail as thorough checks that are required on the contraindications and
side effects of the drugs. It became clear to me that if drugs are not
administered and dispensed appropriately, it may have a detrimental effect
on patients' health.
