Due Date: 6 May 2025
Question 1 (5 Marks)
Explain how strategic human resource planning and recruitment and selection
are used together.
Strategic Human Resource Planning (SHRP) is the process of forecasting an
organisation’s future human resource needs and developing strategies to meet those
needs. It ensures the organisation has the right number of employees with the right
skills, in the right positions, at the right time.
Once SHRP identifies current and future staffing requirements, the recruitment and
selection processes are used to fill those gaps. Recruitment focuses on attracting a
pool of qualified candidates, while selection involves evaluating and choosing the most
suitable individuals from that pool.
Therefore, SHRP and recruitment/selection are closely linked: SHRP identifies the
needs, and recruitment and selection fulfil those needs by acquiring the necessary
talent to support organisational goals.
