assertiveness -
✅ In conflict situations, Assertiveness refers to attempts to satisfy our own concerns.
basic conflict -
✅ Pronounced disagreement about fundamental roles, tasks, and functions. Cf. nonbasic
conflict.
contempt -
✅ Verbal or nonverbal communication with another that conveys that the recipient is
undesirable. Contempt can be displayed verbally through insults, sarcasm, and mockery, or
nonverbally through such expressions as rolling one's eyes.
cooperativeness -
✅ In conflict situations, cooperativeness refers to attempts one makes to satisfy concerns
of others.
demand-withdraw communication -
✅ A communication pattern in which one person makes an effort to engage the other
person in a discussion of some issue of importance. The one raising the issue may criticize,
complain, or suggest a need for change in the other's behavior or in the relationship. In response, the
other party withdraws by either leaving the discussion, failing to reply, or changing the subject.
feedback -
✅ In communication, an ongoing process in which participants and their messages
produce a result and are subsequently modified by the result.
forgiveness -
✅ A reduction in negative feelings and an increase in positive feelings toward a
"transgressor" after a transgression, an attitude of goodwill toward someone who has done us harm,
and showing compassion and forgoing resentment toward someone who has caused us pain.
gatekeeping -
