Discussion 2
Three of the public health programs include the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) model,
logic model and the RE-AIM framework. The PDSA is a model that utilizes a cyclical
framework that is used for continuous quality improvement in healthcare settings (Katowa-
Mukwato et al., 2021). The plan is used to identify goals and develop an intervention, do is
used to implement the intervention in a small scale, study evaluates the results using data
and feedback which act is the modification of the intervention based in the scale up,
findings or the repeat of the cycle. In most public health programs, PDSA is used to test
and refine interventions quickly and effectively, in Chiropractic clinic, the model could be
used in improving patient education on posture and erogonomics.
The logic model is a visual representation of how the program works, as it outlines
the relationship between activities, resources, intended outcomes and inputs (Sonderegger
et al., 2021). The model helps planners and evaluators to map out program inputs such as
staff or equipment, activities such as therapy sessions, outputs such as the number of
sessions held and the outcomes such as improved functioning, in public health, the model
ensures that all aspects of the program are aligned with the desired goals.
The RE-AIM stands for Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation and
Miantainace. It is responsible in evaluating both individual and organizational impact. The
reach assesses of how many people are affected, effectiveness is if the intervention was
successful, adoption includes who is willing to use it, implementation stands of how well it
was carried out while maintenance is if it will last over time (Glasgow et al., 2022). RE-
AIM is a successful tool for scaling programs as it measures both short and long-term
effects especially in community-based health settings.
