Unit 4 Managing an event - Assignment 1
Fully justify how your skills match those of an events
organiser.
In this report, I will fully justify how my skills match with effective event organisers.
Having a clear structure of what you'll accomplish and how you'll do it is all about
organisational skills. Strong organisational skills are vital in event planning because
they assist event organisers in successfully running events and in developing other
skills such as communication and critical thinking. Because I can work with digital
files, emails, and paper documents, I feel my skills fit the event organizer's
organisational skills. If I'm asked about a project I'm working on, for example, I could
immediately locate the documents and bring them in on time. This is because I
organise my work and save important documents, allowing me to be more proactive
at work. Keeping records is another organisational ability that I have which is similar
to an event planner. The event organiser maintains a record of the events that they
have organised. I know this because I questioned Tracy Cresswell, an event
designer who came to my college and spoke with us about planning an event. She
has successfully produced both small and large events, so meeting with her provided
me with an excellent opportunity to ask her questions about event planning. I asked
her questions such as, "What skills do you need to be an event planner?" Then she
discussed all of the different necessary skills, the most essential of which she
mentioned was the need to be organised, which I feel is a talent that I have because
I am always organised with my work. An event organiser must have organisational
skills since they must have a clear framework for planning their events and
instructing their team on how to use their time to perform duties that have been
assigned to them. My organisational skills match with an event planner because I
always prepare a plan for what I will work on today and what tasks I will need to
complete. For example, preparing ahead of schedule is one of my organisational
skills. Having good organisational skills not only helps me to be less stressed at
work, but it also helps me to be more creative and think outside the box. This skill is
appropriate for an event planner since I am a hard worker who is prepared to handle
several tasks at once.
Problem-solving skills are important as an event organizer since you never know
what problems can arise before or during the event. Because I like solving
difficulties, I feel I can come up with different solutions when solving problems. When
it comes to problem-solving, most people become stressed and take longer to solve
difficulties, but I maintain myself cool, which helps me to think more clearly and come
up with specific answers to problems. I can tackle any difficulties that may arise
without being stressed, allowing me to think creatively and come up with several
solutions to the problem. This demonstrates that my problem-solving ability matches
that of an event planner.
