Part One: Working Style

I think it would serve everyone involved to give you some background about me first. I have
been a Critical Care Nurse for 34 years. To say I have seen incredible innovation is a gross
understatement. I take great pride in knowing that I had a front-row seat to the implementation of
some of the therapies, procedures, and devices that we now consider commonplace, standard
practice, and perhaps even take for granted. I have positioned myself to take advantage of
opportunities when they presented themselves, to be in that seat, in that row. A few years ago, I
finally felt ready to take a step back from that seat when the rare genetic disorder I was born with
decided to make itself a priority. When I was in the throes of that illness, it was unclear if I
would ever return to practice.
Nevertheless, there I was, a year ago, feeling better and feeling an unfamiliar sensation –
boredom. I departed the second greatest love of my life, Critical Care, and applied for and
accepted the role of Assistant Manager in my Clinic. I now want to position myself to take over
