Task 2: Demonstrating Essential Concepts
A. Identify the following from a unit of study:
- Topic: Graphing Linear Equations in Slope Intercept Form
- Essential Concept: How to correctly graph linear equations in slope
intercept form.
B. Explain how the essential concept, skill, or task from part A will
be demonstrated in your e-learning activity by doing the following:
1. Identify the strategy (e.g., direct instruction, think-alouds/think-
alongs, worked examples, lectures, share sessions) you will use to
demonstrate the essential concept, skill, or task from part A.
- Strategy: (GRR) Gradual Release of Responsibility (I Do, We Do, You Do)
a. Explain how you will use the strategy from part B1 to
demonstrate the concept, skill, or task from part A.
- I do: I will demonstrate how to graph linear equations step by step both
physically and online using Desmos. I will also explain my thought process
out loud in person or I will also record a video of how to do it as well. For
example, “First you have to identify the y-intercept and plot it on the y-
axis, next, use the slope to move up or down first using the top number,
then to the right or left using the bottom number. We call this Rise over
Run.”
- We do: Students will then follow along with a guided example provided by
me either in person, live on zoom, or a recorded video. I will provide this
example by using Desmos and the students will complete the step alongside
me while I provide support.
You do: Students will be given a new example for them to work on
independently using Desmos. Then they will explain their process on either
flip or google docs.
2. Explain how you will use digital tools to demonstrate the
essential concept, skill, or task from part A in an online or
hybrid learning environment.
- We will use several online tools:
