HLT 307V Week 2 DQ 2
Interprofessional collaboration and teamwork are integral aspects of any professional
workplace, but they are especially significant in health care environments where all health
care professionals are working toward the common goal of providing quality patient care
and positive patient outcomes. For a team to function successfully, it is essential that team
members are able to communicate respectfully with one another and that each team
member understands their role within the group. In Topic 4, you will be working in a
Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) of your peers to create a PowerPoint
presentation on interprofessional collaboration. Connect with your group members now
and begin discussing how you intend to complete the CLC project.
1. Discuss here your first impressions of your group's dynamic and communication.
Does your group have a leader?
2. What other roles did you see beginning to emerge among group members?
3. How did your group allocate the different responsibilities for completing the
assignment?
4. How will you ensure that everyone is meeting their assigned deadlines?
5. What kinds of experiences are you hoping to avoid in this group project, and what
do you plan to contribute to the group?
“Interprofessional teamwork involves collaboration among team members to reach a common
goal” (Slusser et al., 2019, pp. 133). Academic interprofessional collaboration takes various
forms, including advancing education, gaining perspectives, and working with diverse
personalities/ learning abilities. As someone who values efficiency and enjoys working
proactively, I was pleased to receive positive responses from most members of my group. Strong
communication from the outset has set us up for success. In my past roles as a charge nurse and
current position as an educator, I have demonstrated leadership skills, while also being willing to
step back and allow others to take ownership. However, my only concern is some individuals in
the group have not responded in the chat. I presume this is because the deadline is not until week
4. A few of us have previously completed this type of assignment and collaboration with an
online class, so we were able to share our experiences. After discussing, we decided to divide the
work so that five people would each take a question. The final person would organize, cite, and
complete any missing information before sharing it with the group for final review. To ensure
that everyone was on the same page, I proposed deadlines that each member could agree to.
However, I am always concerned with group assignments when I do not have control over
choosing my team members. In the past, I have worked with individuals who have proven to be
reliable and dedicated to achieving a high-quality outcome. As an educator, I am eager to bring
my experience to this project and contribute my creativity to enhance our presentation.
