Integrated Logistics
1. Compare and contrast logistics management with supply chain management
Logistics management and supply chain management (SCM) are closely related, but
they are not exactly the same. In simple terms, logistics is just a part of the whole
supply chain.
Logistics management focuses on the movement and storage of goods. It deals with
things like transporting products from the factory to the warehouse, keeping stock safe,
packaging, and delivering orders to customers. The main aim is to make sure goods get
to the right place, at the right time, in good condition.
Supply chain management, on the other hand, is bigger. It includes logistics, but also
looks at the entire process—from getting raw materials, to making the products, to
delivering them to the customer. SCM also involves managing relationships with
suppliers, manufacturers, and customers.
