,Family Planning.
• The ability of individuals and couples to anticipate and
attain their desired number of children, spacing and timing
of their births.
• Family planning services are defined as educational,
comprehensive medical or social activities which enable
individuals, including minors to determine freely the
number and child spacing plus to select the means by
which this may be achieved.
, Prevalence.
• Modern Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (mCRP):
• 18% in 2006, to 35% in 2016 and an aim of reaching 50% in 2020.
• Maternal Mortality Rate:
• 438/100,000 live births in 2011 to 336/100,000 in 2016.
• Over a period of 5 years, (2012-2017) its estimated that
family planning commodities have averted 6.2x106
unplanned pregnancies, 1.5x106 unsafe abortions and
23,465 maternal deaths (MoH Reproductive Health
Commodity Security Report, 2017)
