Bullying in the workplace can happen for many reasons. Some people bully others when they
feel intimidated. There are times when people want to feel in control of a situation or person.
Disagreements among employees and discrimination are also a cause of bullying.
2. As an HR manager, what policies might you implement to reduce or eliminate
bullying?
Anonymous, confidential ways to report any harassment or bullying. Zero-tolerance bullying
policies that outline clear consequences of bullying and harassment in the workplace. HR could
conduct periodically check-ins with employees to identify any complaints or concerns with
employee behavior. Lastly, HR could provide training programs to raise awareness on bullying
resources available to those who have experienced bullying.

Bullying is never acceptable in the workplace; it has so many negative repercussions on the work
environment. It reduces productivity, it takes the focus away from important tasks. Most
importantly, it puts employees in danger because you never know how some people will react to
