QMBR8 QUANTITATIVE TECHNIQUES FOR BUSINESS MANCOSA CSTUDY_Jan25_BBAHONS_QMBR8 QUANTITATIVE TECHNIQUES FOR BUSINESS 1.1 As part of the process of developing a suitable title for the proposed study at ABC Limited, conduct a thorough analysis of the study using the 5Ws framework. 1.2 Based on the results of the 5W analysis, formulate a suitable title for the proposed study. 1.3 Formulate a problem statement for the proposed study. 1.4 Specify the aim and significance of the proposed study. 1.5.Formulate THREE (3) research objectives and THREE (3) research questions for the proposed study. QUESTION 2 Present a comprehensive literature review for the proposed study by unpacking the fundamental phenomena and main theoretical concepts underpinning the proposed study. The literature review should be grounded in relevant theories, empirical studies, and current trends in hybrid working, with appropriate in-text citations to support the analysis. Please note that a minimum of FIVE pages of critical review of the extant literature is required and at least twelve recent academic sources should be cited in the discussion. QUESTION 3 Drawing on the comprehensive literature review on hybrid working presented in Question 2, as well as the research questions formulated for the proposed study, address the following questions pertaining to the research methodology: 3.1 Specify and justify, with a detailed explanation, the most appropriate quantitative research design for the proposed study. 3.2 Propose and justify an appropriate sampling strategy for the proposed study, considering both the study's objectives and potential limitations. 3.3 By evaluating alignment with research questions, the research design, ethical implications and potential challenges associated with data collection, select and justify the most suitable data collection approach for the proposed study. 3.4 Design a data analysis strategy that best addresses each of the study’s research questions, providing a detailed rationale for your choices. QUESTION 4 Assuming you have been tasked with the responsibility to pilot the investigation into the impact of hybrid working on employee productivity, well-being, and organisational performance at ABC Limited, answer the following questions. 4.1 Develop a comprehensive 30-item questionnaire for a pilot study assessing the impact of hybrid working on employee productivity, well-being, and organisational performance at ABC Limited. The questionnaire should be meticulously structured to capture a holistic view of the effects of hybrid working, ensuring strong alignment with the study's research objectives and the organisational context of ABC Limited. In addition to a demographic section that facilitates stratification of the data, divide the questionnaire into three distinct sections corresponding to the core research themes: Employee Productivity, Employee Well-being, and Organisational Performance. Ensure that the questionnaire is carefully crafted to yield mostly quantitative but also qualitative insights, offering a nuanced understanding of how hybrid working influences these key areas within the company. 4.2 How would you determine whether your survey instrument is valid and reliable for the full study? 4.3 What steps would you take if the pilot study reveals low response rates or incomplete data? 4.4 How can you use the results from a pilot study to improve the ethical considerations of the full study?

PRELIMINARY (INTRODUCTION)

Before starting the assignment, it is important to understand what is research, its
purposes, importance, processes and methods

Research is defined by Creswell (2023) as a systematic investigation, often involving data
collection and analysis, aimed at discovering new knowledge, understanding phenomena, or
solving problems. It can be described as a process that involves systematic inquiry to describe,
explain, predict, and control the observed phenomenon (Yin, 2018). Also, according to Braun
and Clarke (2022) research is the creation of new knowledge and/or the use of existing
knowledge in a new and creative way so as to generate new concepts, methodologies and
understandings. Therefore, this entails a creative and systematic work undertaken to increase
the stock of knowledge through the collection, organization, and analysis of evidence to
increase understanding of a topic, characterized by a particular attentiveness to controlling
sources of bias and error. This could include synthesis and analysis of previous research to the
extent that it leads to new and creative outcomes. Thus, research involves inductive and
deductive reasonings (Yin, 2018).

Systematic Inquiry

Research follows a structured approach, using specific methods and techniques to ensure
reliability and validity (Creswell, 2023).

Purpose

It can be conducted for various reasons, including

Expanding Knowledge: To uncover new information and deepen understanding of a
particular topic.

Solving Problems: To identify and address real-world issues or challenges.

Testing Theories: To examine the validity of existing theories or hypotheses.

Developing New Methods: To create innovative approaches or techniques.

Methods/Processes

As a dynamic process, research can be organized into four stages Exploring, Investigating,
Processing, and Creating. It can involve various methods, that can be grouped into the
following main categories:

Qualitative Research: Focuses on understanding the "why" and "how" of a phenomenon,
often through interviews, focus groups, and observations.

Quantitative Research: Employs numerical data and statistical analysis to identify patterns
and relationships.

Mixed Methods: Combines both qualitative and quantitative approaches.

Examples

Scientific Research: Experiments, observations, and analysis to understand natural
phenomena.

Social Science Research: Surveys, interviews, and statistical analysis to study human
behaviour and social issues.

Business Research: Market research, customer surveys, and data analysis to inform business
decisions.

Key Steps in the Research Process

Identify a Research Question: Formulate a clear and specific question to investigate.

Literature Review: Examine existing research to understand the current knowledge base.

Develop a Methodology: Choose appropriate research methods and techniques.

Collect Data: Gather relevant information through surveys, experiments, or other methods.

Analyse Data: Interpret the collected data to identify patterns and draw conclusions.
