Introduction
Pennsylvania. A random sample was obtained, using the RAND () function in Excel, which
helps in ensuring that the selection process is unbiased and that each house sale has an equal
chance of being included in the sample.
Questions and type of test: In this analysis, two primary questions will be addressed.
Question 1: Are the housing prices in the Mid-Atlantic region lower than the national market
average? For this, we will focus on the mean housing price as the population parameter.
Therefore, the hypothesis stated is that housing prices in the Mid-Atlantic region are lower
than the national average. A 1-tail test will be used to test this hypothesis since we are
interested in knowing whether the regional prices are lower than the national market average.
Question 2: Is the square footage for homes in the Mid-Atlantic region different from the
national average?
