Community projects are indeed essential in building and securing community trust in the
rehabilitation of offenders and the parole system. These initiatives allow parolees to actively
contribute to society, which not only benefits the community but also reinforces the idea that
ex-offenders are capable of positive change. The project in Lenasia, where parolees helped
refurbish the Magistrate’s Court, is a good example of how involving offenders in meaningful
community work promotes reconciliation, healing, and social reintegration (Anon., 2021). It
helps shift public perception, allowing the community to view parolees as individuals who can
be rehabilitated and who have the potential to make constructive contributions to society.
