Theme 1: global health epidemiology and data sources
 What are the world’s greatest killers?
 What causes the greatest amount of morbidity worldwide?
 How do we measure this?
 What role does economic development play in health status?

Theme 2: transnational health governance
 What are the major players at the global level in public health?
 How did this evolve historically?
 Is there such a thing as international policy?
 How to respons to international disease outbreaks such as Covid-19?

Theme 3: Mental health
 What is the picture of mental health at the global level?
 What are important initiatives related to mental health at the global level?

Theme 4: Tobacco and health
 What is the role of tobacco in health worldwide?
 What is being done on tobacco control at the global level?

Theme 5: Climate and health
 What is the impact of climate change on human health?
 What are pathways by which climate impacts health?
 How to adapt and how to protect health in changing climate?

Seminar Public Health in International Context
 25th June: seminar - small group session (with tutorial group) - seminar
 26th June: seminar
 Preparation is required:
o Digest all literature in advance
o Each tutorial group formulates 5 to 8 questions (after reading the literature)
o 1 student emails question to
o Deadline sending questions: June 24 at 13.00u
 During the small group session
o Each tutorial group split up in two small groups
o Work on specific public health challenge in the Philippines
