Purpose of IDES Right Ans - -Provides a means of evaluating the physical
fitness of Soldiers who may be unfit to perform their military duties due to a
physical disability

-Provides Soldiers with due process through rebuttals and appeals throughout
the DoD and VA systems

wounded, ill, or injured

Treatment consists of (but not limited to): Surgeries, Physical therapy, Trial of
duty

-Temporary profile issued (not to exceed 1 year in duration)-

Medical Retention Determination Point (MRDP) Right Ans - -Within 1 year

-When the course of further recovery is relatively predictable

-When further treatment will not cause Soldier to meet medical retention
standards

-When further treatment will not render Soldier capable of performing
required duties

Soldier is issued a permanent profile (DA Form 3349) and can be referred to:
Right Ans - -Military Occupational Specialty (MOS)/Administrative Retention -
Review (MAR2)

-Medical Evaluation Board (MEB)

profile of 3 or 4 will be referred to either: MAR2 or MEB

MOS/Administrative Retention Review (MAR2) Right Ans - -Ensures
continuity of effort between: Doctors, Personnel managers, IDES

-Determines if Soldier has the physical ability to perform primary MOS

-Recommends that Soldiers be either: Retained in PMOS/AOC (RTD),
Reclassified to another MOS, Referred to MEB

Steps of the IDES process in order Right Ans - 1. Soldier is wounded,
injured, or becomes ill

2.Soldier undergoes treatment or rehabilitation

3. Soldier reaches Medical Retention Determination Point

4. Soldier is issued a permanent profile (DA Form 3349)

5. Soldier is referred to MAR2 or MEB

Soldier has a disability and does not meet medical retention standards
Right Ans - Refer to MEB

Soldier is retainable but unable to perform duties of current MOS Right Ans

Component (RC) Soldiers to determine if standards of medical fitness are met
for retention

-Document medical conditions and Soldiers' duty limitations

-Complete the Narrative Summary (NARSUM)
