, A. Organizational Communication Strategies
Direct communication is an effective communication strategy when it is
imperative to front load the information or message and ensure it is delivered in a
clear, concise manner and maintains consistency across all recipients of the
message. Merrilton Robotics would likely find implementing a direct communication
style to be the best form of communication for things like updates to company
policies or information related to benefits. If the healthcare insurance provider is
changing or an open enrollment date is upcoming employing direct communication
to state this clearly would be a wise decision.
Indirection communication can be a more polite, ambiguous approach than
could be a more appropriate choice when it is beneficial to handle a situation in a
more gentle manner. Indirect communication often relies on non-verbal cues like
tone of voice or facial expressions. If Merrilton Robotics is working with a client to
develop a needed robot and the client asks for a feature that is not currently offered
by Merrilton an appropriate response would be “Currently that is not something we
currently offer but I will let management know it is of interest to you and maybe it
something we will be able to provide in the future.” This approach provides the
negative response but the “no” is layered under concern for the clients desires and
letting them know their needs are important.
B. Organizational Communication Methods
A phone call is a suitable method of communication when the expression of
emotion will aid in the delivery and reception of the message. If a manager has been
given positive feedback from a client in regards to a team member who the client
