Week 8 Collaboration Cafe: Reflection on Learning
I believe this class was an enriching experience that has shaped my understanding and
growth of enhanced leadership skills, role development and professional identity,
interdisciplinary collaboration, and change management. The concepts of leadership and cultures
of excellence stood out to me the most. These concepts will be foundational to my future practice
as a master’s prepared nurse. My leadership abilities will be key in fostering a supportive
environment that encourages growth and professional development among my team. As a leader,
I’ll advocate for both my patients and my team, ensuring that the voices of all stakeholders are
heard. This includes advocating for policies and practices that align with a culture of excellence.
As healthcare continues to evolve, I will be at the forefront of leading change initiatives that aim
to improve patient outcomes. My commitment to excellence will drive me to implement new
protocols, technologies, and practices that enhance the quality of care.
The course learning activities and assignments are designed to align closely with program
outcome five, which emphasizes advocating for positive health outcomes through
compassionate, evidence-based, collaborative advanced nursing practice. Assignments focused
on cultures of excellence, like the leading cultures of excellence infographic, enhanced my
understanding and appreciation for prioritizing continuous improvement, high standards of care,
and patient-centered practices. The leadership practice activities helped me gain awareness of my
current leadership style and my strengths and weaknesses as a leader. They also taught me a
great deal about collaborative practice and how to leverage collaboration to enhance patient care.
Class assignments and learning activities were rather helpful when trying to achieve the
AACN Essential Competencies 10.3k. The week five discussion was a great activity that allowed
me to apply leadership principles and theories to real-world scenarios. By critically evaluating
different leadership styles and strategies, I learned how to choose the most effective approach to
guide intentional change in various healthcare settings. Leadership reflection assignments, like
the week two leadership self-assessment paper, allowed me to assess my own leadership style in
the context of theoretical frameworks which help align my actions with leadership principles.
This self-awareness is key to influencing change intentionally and effectively. The experiences
gained from our course assignments provided me with the knowledge, skills, and practical
application needed to lead purposeful change in my future nursing practice.

Hi Maritza,
This course allowed us to explore many leadership concepts, and I agree they will be helpful in
our future practice as advanced nurse practitioners. Collaborative and compassionate work
environments usually have higher employee satisfaction rates and less turnover. I like working
