Week 8 Discussion Board:
Overall, my first semester of NP school was a period of immense growth and learning. It laid the
foundation for my future as a nurse practitioner, instilling in me the confidence and skills needed
to provide high-quality patient care. While the journey ahead may be challenging, I am excited
about the opportunities and experiences that lie ahead. The concepts that stood out to me this
session is the health policy and analysis assignment it helped me to learn about the different
issues that were occurring in my county. I also enjoyed the how to avoid manage conflict
community café, after reading my colleagues posts, I am able to apply this to future practice.
The collaboration café and professional development activities nurture my professionalism
and ethical decision-making skills. Engaging in discussions about ethical dilemmas, cultural
competence, and healthcare policy encouraged self-reflection and helped me cultivate a strong
ethical framework to guide my practice.
Focusing on nursing leaders throughout history provided me with insight into the leadership
qualities, strategies, and contributions that have advanced the nursing profession and influenced
healthcare policy and practice. By studying historical examples of nursing advocacy, activism,
and innovation, I am inspired to become an effective leader and advocate for positive change in
healthcare.

Hi Valerie, I enjoyed reading your post. Evidence-based practice is important for our patients,
because utilizing evidence-based interventions, can provide care that is more effective, leading to
better patient outcomes. EBP encourages the use of resources that have been proven effective
through research, thereby avoiding unnecessary costs associated with ineffective or outdated
practices. This promotes efficient resource allocation within healthcare systems. Engaging in
evidence-based practice fosters continuous learning and professional growth among nurses. It
encourages us to stay updated with the latest research findings and best practices in their field,
enhancing their expertise and competence. We have an ethical responsibility to provide care that
is based on the best available evidence. EBP ensures that nurses are practicing ethically by
incorporating current evidence into their decision-making processes.
Peer Response #2:
Hi Makenzie, I enjoyed reading your post. I also enjoyed the conflict resolution segment during
this course. When it comes to conflict I like to figure out the solution as soon as possible,
therefore I may come off as confrontational. When it comes to conflict resolution
communication has to be clear and respectful for a solution to occur. Effective conflict resolution
fosters a collaborative and cohesive team environment. When conflicts are addressed
constructively, team members can work together more harmoniously, leading to improved
communication, coordination, and teamwork. Unresolved conflicts can contribute to stress,
burnout, and dissatisfaction among healthcare professionals. By addressing conflicts promptly
and respectfully, healthcare organizations can promote employee well-being and job satisfaction,
ultimately enhancing retention and morale. Conflict resolution promotes professionalism and
upholds ethical standards within healthcare settings. It encourages respectful communication,
