106.1 Purpose and employment of MARDIV - ANSWERExecute amphibious assaults
operations, provide amphibious forcible-entry capabilities to Amphibious Task Force
and perform subsequent land based operations.
106.2 Composition Battalion and Regiments - ANSWER3 Infantry Regiments, Artillery
Regiment, (6 supporting: Headquarters Battalion, Combat Engineer Battalion, Recon
Battalion, Tank Battalion, Amphibious Assault Battalion, Light-Armored Recon battalion.

Mission of Infantry - ANSWERLocate, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and
maneuver or repel his assault by fire and close combat.
Mission of Artillery - ANSWERFurnish close and continuous fire support by neutralizing,
destroying, or suppressing targets that threaten the success of the supported unit.
Mission of Amphibious Assault BN - ANSWERProvide single lift, ship-to-shore
capabilities to assault elements and their equipment during amphibious operations to
beach and inland objects and conduct follow on mechanized operations onshore.
Mission of LAR - ANSWERConduct recon, security, and economy-of-force operations
and limited offensive or delaying operations that exploit the unit's mobility and firepower
Mission of Combat Engineers - ANSWEREnhance the mobility, counter-mobility, and
survivability of supported unit through close combat engineer support and limited
general engineering support.
Mission of Recon BN - ANSWERConduct amphibious reconnaissance, ground
reconnaissance, ISR (Intel, surveillance Recon), Battle Shaping, and limited scale raids.
Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV-7A1) - ANSWER- tracked, fully amphibious ship-to-
shore landing vehicle 3 person crew
- Capacity 21 PAX w/ combat load (285lbs each) or 10,000 lbs cargo
- Land Cruising: 20-30 mph x 300miles; Water Cruising 6 mphs x 7hrs
- Armerment: M2 0.50 Caliber Machine Gun; MK19 40mm MG
