Reasons Why Abortion Should be Illegal
Imagine meeting that special someone for the first time and telling them your name. To
have a child is a blessing. In the United States there are more than a billion abortions performed
each year. Since the court case Roe vs Wade in 1973 more than 56 million babies were murdered in
the United States before they had the chance to take their first breath (American Life League.
(2021). Roe v. Wade was a legal decision issued on January 22, 1973, in which the U.S.
Supreme Court struck down a Texas statute banning abortion, and effectively
legalizing the procedure across the United States. Abortion is defined as the removal of an
embryo or fetus from the uterus to terminate a pregnancy(Abu-Baker, R., & Mrayyan, M.T. (2020).
It can include any of various surgical methods that terminate a pregnancy, especially during the
first six months. It terminates a pregnancy by exterminating a life, yet the mother is not charged
with murder. Is this right? Surprisingly, this has happened approximately twenty million times in
the past twenty years. Abortion is taking the life of an innocent child that cannot speak for
his/herself, abortion should be illegal because it is murder, immoral, and can cause physical and
emotional harm to the mother.
Murder
Abortion is considered a murder; the killing of an innocent human being is wrong, even
that human being has yet to be born which is deprived of future value (Abu-Baker, R., &
Mrayayan, M.T. (2020). We are not responsible for choosing whether an innocent baby should
live or die. Abortion is a life-or-death situation and has been one of the biggest controversies of all
time. I also believe it is 100% wrong and lack the identity behind it. Life begins at the point of
conception. No one can deny that after a human being is conceived, it will develop into the very
same being as those debating this issue. The science of embryology states that from the moment
