ETD
End-of-Train Telemetry Device
-Mounted on the end of a freight train.
-Indicates the end of the train and provides brake pipe pressure readings to the
crew in the cab.
-When armed to HTD, it provides capability in the cab to initiate an emergency
brake application from the rear of the train.
-Sometimes referred to as FRED or SBU
CROSSOVER
A track w/ switches @ both ends that connect 2 adjacent tracks.
-used primarily to move from one track to another.
DUAL CONTROL SWITCH
Power-operated switch, a moveable frog & a de-rail that can also be operated by
hand .
DOUBLE TRACK
2 MT where the current of traffic on one track is in a specified direction and the
current of traffic on the other track is in the opposite direction.
ABSOLUTE SIGNAL
A block or interlocking signal w/o a number plate.
