1. INTRODUCTION (150 words)
In 1994, South Africa’s transition from apartheid to democracy
marked a pivotal moment in the history of its education system.

2. ACCESS TO EDUCATION (300 words)
Under apartheid, access to education was racially segregated,

Education Act of 1953 institutionalized this separation, ensuring
that black students were limited to inferior schooling. By 1994,
the country’s education system was still dealing with the legacy
of these policies, with vast disparities in the availability of
