RTI Tier 1 - ANSWER-All students are screened to identify those students who need
intervention to be on
track academically. These screeners are to be evidence-based and provided by regular
ed teachers in the classroom

RTI Tier 2 - ANSWER-More intense instruction in addition to what student is getting in
classroom if screening process shows academic deficits. Small group setting. Perhaps
not yet classified as special ed.

RTI Tier 3 - ANSWER-Even more intensive supplemental instruction. More
individualized to student, may indicate student is moving toward special ed status.

Reactive response - ANSWER-Reactive responses result after a situation has taken
place and there is a need to discipline. This usually involves the administrative office of

Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) - ANSWER-Is conducted by a qualified
professional not employed by the school agency, but this evaluation is paid for by the
school district (Wright & Wright, 2007). This intervention is usually requested by the
parent(s) because of lack of confidence in the school district or in response to not
accepting the results of the original evaluation.

Mainstreaming - ANSWER-Is placing special education students in regular classes
when they are believed competent enough to be integrated into that environment
(possibly with modifications to the curriculum). This process helps these students share
an academic and a social environment with their non classified peers. It is also part of
what is considered a "least restrictive" environment—that is, an environment that is part
of general education
