100% Correct!!
What types of duties and responsibilities do you see yourself as a firefighter for Los
Angeles? - ANSWER
How have you prepared for this position? (Opening) - ANSWERI would like to thank
you all for taking the time out of your busy schedules to interview me today it means
a lot to me and my family. In August of 2019, I was in South Los Angeles waiting for
calls as a freelance fire photographer. A structure fire was dispatched in 46's first in.
Engine 46 and Task Force 66 arrived on scene to a well-involved home with a
trapped victim. Firefighters set up for a rescue profile. Task Force 66 members
pulled the trapped victim from the house to an awaiting RA in cardiac arrest. I was
astonished with the amount of compassion and professionalism the members
provided to the patient and their family. From that moment on I realized I wanted to
be a Los Angeles City Firefighter to uphold the compassion and professionalism that
those firefighters showed while working as an efficient team on that August morning.
My name is James Hedlund-Kaiser and I am 21 years old. I have indirectly and
directly prepared myself to be a firefighter for the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
I have grown up in a large close-knit family which is similar to the fire department
family. I come from a family who shares similar morals as the Los Angeles City Fire
Department such as integrity and innovation. I have been active in sports teams
such as baseball and volleyball teams. I played a lead role as the captain of my high
school volleyball team. This has given experience as a leader and as a member of
multiple teams. I am a graduate from Redondo Union High School. I currently work
as a lifeguard where I teach swim lessons to children and adults. I volunteer as a
lifeguard for a foundation which brings inner city youth who are less fortunate to local
beaches for a day at the beach. I earned my "AA" in business management from El
Camino College while I am currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in business
managemen

Discuss a situation where you had to carry out the goals of the leader
(Leadership/problem solving) - ANSWERWhile in my junior year of college at Long
Beach State we were assigned a project to complete online, I had just transferred to
the university, I did not know my group members well.I began speaking to them to
learn about them better. Once I learned more about them I assigned them roles to
complete the project. I coordinated Zoom meetings twice a week for three weeks so
we could check in on one another's progress. The project was completed two days
prior to the deadline with enough time to proofread and scored an "A" on it. Within
the Los Angeles Fire Department I know I will be tasked with working as a team
whether it is on overhaul on a structure fire or cardiac arrest or anything in between
with members I may or may not have experience with. I know as a member of the
LAFD I will be looked at as a leader by the members of the community.
