Treaty of Neuilly Treaty of Sevres

● Signed on the 27th November 1919 ● Signed on the 10th of August 1920
● Between Bulgaria and the victorious Allied ● Between the victorious Allied powers and the
powers of WW1 government of Ottoman Turkey
● Became effective on the 9th August 1920 ● Abolishment of the Ottoman Empire
● Forced to cede lands to Yugoslavia and Greece ● Turkey had to renounce all rights over Arab Asia
which deprived it of its access to the Agean sea. and North Africa
Giving away this land was a sign of recognition ● Independence of Aremnia, an autonomous
for the new state Kurdistan, and Greek control over the Agean
● 300,000 people transferred islands commanding the Dardanelles
● Reduced army to 20,000 men ● Rejection of the new Turkish nationalist regime
● Has to pay reparations of £100 million ● Replaced by Treaty of Lausanne in 1923

● Allies abandoned claims of trying to control Turkey’s finances and armed forces
● Turkish Straits were now open to all shipping
