Percent ECMO Support Right Ans - The percent of the patient's LV cardiac
output that the ECC is supporting. The ECC blood flow divided by the patient's
baseline cardiac output.
Femoral-Femoral Support Right Ans - When ECLS cannulae are placed in
the groin to gain access for veno-arterial ECLS, cannulation is referred to as
peripheral and femoral vein to femoral artery (fem-fem) usually with the
chest closed.
Radial Artery pO2 Right Ans - V-A and V-V support protocols call for
measuring right radial pO2 during ECLS support to monitor coronary artery
and right carotid artery oxygen levels.

% in the circuit. The circuit VO2 transfer drops and the patient SpO2 and CaO2
drop during recirculation.
Harlequin Syndrome Right Ans - The syndrome where the oxygen level is
different between the right and left side of the face, head and shoulders due to
the oxygen content differences in the blood. Also know as the mixing cloud or
north-south syndrome, The O2 difference occurs during peripheral femoral-
femoral ECLS when the left ventricular output has a lower O2 content than the
ECLS delivery blood line to the femoral artery.
ECC Drainage Blood Line Right Ans - The circuit blood line that drains
blood from the patient to the circuit blood pump. In V-A ECLS this may be the
"venous line". In V-V ECLS the drain line is also a great vein. ELSO refers to the
blood line going from the patient to the circuit as the drainage line.
