This written task relates to Mark Haddon’s Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-
Time, one of the texts we read during the literature component of the course. I’ve cho-
sen to write a blog entry from the protagonist of the novel, Christopher Boone’s point of
view which I imagined to be posted on his personal blog. My aim is to demonstrate that
Asperger’s Syndrome, as in Christopher’s case is no limit to what one can accomplish in
life while comprising Haddon’s main literary elements such as the simplistic tone and
primitive characterization in Christopher’s worldview, targeting both the adult and teen
audience.
The content of the blog entry is based on the events from the point that the book left off
and the imaginary future I created. I chose to write a blog entry because I thought it
would be the best choice to be more creative in a near present-day style by fusing Had-
don’s style in the digital environment.
As the first person narrator; Christopher, at the age of 36, tells us about how his life
went off after passing his A-level maths test. As he slowly starts to acknowledge his dis-
order, he gradually graduates as an honours student from Cambridge University, starts
a career and a family. Christopher’s rigid basic outlook on life, yet with a very detailed
mind, is transferred into the task with the same devices as Haddon’s in the most simple
yet thought-provoking voice.
