Veel organisaties hebben beperkte resources (manuren/’machine uren’/faciliteiten/materialen).
Deze resources bepalen(beperken) veelal de ‘productiecapaciteit’. Managers moeten deze
beperkingen (constraints) daarom analyseren en beheren.

Theory of constraints

TOC gaat uit van het verbeteren van processen door te focussen op de zwakste schakel in de keten
en te zorgen dat andere schakels zich hieraan aanpassen. Op deze manier worden bottlenecks
opgelost en de output gemaximaliseerd. Binnen MAC kijken we naar de kwantitatieve toepassing van
de theorie. De theorie forceert doorbraken.

TOC bestaat uit 5 stappen: (zie samenvatting_avvc)

1. Identify: identificeer constraints
2. Exploit: benut de constraints door te beslissen hoe deze het beste kunnen worden gebruikt
3. Subordinate: maak alle andere beslissingen ondergeschikt aan de keuze in stap 2.
4. Elevate: verruim de capaciteit van de belangrijkste constraint
5. Search: zoek naar nieuwe constraints.

TOC heeft zijn eigen terminologie, dit is slim want het bind mensen aan jouw theorie:

- Throughput (T): the rate of generating cash by an organization(;measure of added value)
waarde van output- de waarde van de verschillende inputs.
- Inventory (I): money tied up in the company, intended to make the production run efficiently
(denk aan: faciliteiten/kapitaal aandelen/uitrusting/material(om in de toekomst te verkopen)
- Operating expense (OE): the money needed to generate throughput/ Expenses that are used
to sustain operational activities. (vaste lasten/kosten)



- Return on Investment(ROI)= (T-OE)?I

- Net Profit(NP)= T-OE

- Cash Flow(CF)= T-OE+/- procentueel verschil I

- Contributiemarge= verkoopprijs-variabele kosten= bijdrag aan dekking van de vaste kosten.


TOC hoeft niet beperkt te zijn tot de eigen organisatie, maar bij MAC wordt de focus wel primair
gelegd op de eigen organisatie. Verder kunnen upstream & downstream processen bottlenecks zijn.
