During my visit to Java Haven, the owner shared that human resource management is
primarily conducted through informal methods. Staff recruitment predominantly relies on
referrals, utilizing personal connections within the local community. The training process
consists of on-the-job training, where new employees learn as they work. Additionally,
the café provides staff with flexible scheduling options to accommodate their individual
needs. However, the absence of a formal HR policy or employee handbook is evident,
which could lead to ambiguities regarding employee rights and responsibilities.

Assessment of Practices
While Java Haven fosters a friendly and trusting work environment, the lack of
structured HR practices raises concerns. The informal approach may lead to
inconsistencies in areas such as employee training, performance evaluations, and
conflict resolution. Without a standardized process, employees might have different
experiences, affecting their overall job satisfaction and performance.
