PA State Inspection Test
How often - answer must be inspected 1 time each year
How to know when inspection is due - answer- front left side of windshield has an
inspection sticker on it
- will be ticketed or given 5 day warning
- can be done up to 90 days prior to inspection date
- must go to a mechanic that is an official state inspection site
Length of inspection - answer takes about 30 mins.
Areas of inspection - brakes - answer2 tires are taken off to check brakes - 1 off each
axle
Areas of inspection - lights - answer high beams, low beams, brake lights, turn signals,
license plate light, aim of lights
Areas of inspection - tires - answer tread depth, bulges, cuts, scrapes, also check the
spare tire
Areas of inspection - body check - answer Chassis - frame of car
horn, wipers, windshield, not illegal tint on windows, not rust holes in frame more than
3/4" diameter on frame, seats must be fastened down, frame not bent
Areas of inspection - steering - answer front end check, alignment, no more than 2" of
"free-play" on steering wheel
Areas of inspection - exhaust system - answer exhaust pipes not giving off too much
carbon monoxide/harmful fume, no holes/leaks on exhaust, no loud sounds (noise)
Areas of inspection - test drive - answer shocks, handling of car, brakes (car brakes in
straight line), changes gears (transmission), engine noise
