2. Its easy to administer
3. Its painless and non-irritating at most times.
4. Effect of the drug can be counteracted easily compared to other route
for example IV.
5. Does not require sterility.
6. Various drug forms can be used for example syrup, capsules and table

• 1.Not very effective during emergencies.
• 2. Unsuitable for unconscious patients.
• 3.Unsuitable for patients with GI problems.
• 4.Effectiveness of the drug can be influenced by the contents of the GI
tract.
• 5. there is inactivation of the drud in liver before reaching systemic
circulation.
• 6. Some drugs can be inactivated by digestive juices in the stomach.
• 7.Bitter taste of the drugs can discourage patients from taking drug.
